Mexico Received $50 Billion in Remittances from the United States — Why Don’t We Tax It?

It is true. Families in Mexico receive money each month from family members in the United States, to the tune of $4,16 Billion, that is billion with a “B” each month.

When in Mexico, expats dare not go to the banks at the end of the month or on the first or even the second of the month. The lines are around the corner with people taking money from the deposits sent by loved ones from America.

If you are thinking Congress is trying to figure out a way to tax this money, you would be correct in your thinking. One of the problems is, this is money that has has already been taxed. However, if participants are paid under the table, then this becomes money that has never been taxed.
