U.S. digital nomads, we have a situation. I’m a retired U.S. ex-pat traveling the world; here’s what I know.

The U.S. State Department is trying to tell us something, but most ex-pats and digital nomads are not listening.

One of my freelance gigs is working for myself. I publish the YT channel “Budget Retirement Options.”

Now, here’s the deal. Because my channel deals with me being a slow traveler while retired, I often place ‘travel warnings’ in the community section on the channel.

Since October 7th, 2023, the U.S. State Department has issued “blanket” travel alerts for U.S. travelers.

For about three months, I ignored the travel alerts.

I read the alerts and posted a few in the channel’s community section.

However, this past week, I woke up in Argentina, South America, to find the Secretary of Defense, Lloyd Auston, jumping up and down (quietly, of course) because South Korea sent troops to Russia.

The look on his face told me there was a severe issue in play. He said, “…. and we don’t know why South Korea would send troops to Russia.” He had this weird look on his face.

The U.S. has since learned the troops were sent to Russia to train and perhaps will fight in the Ukraine war!
