Personal Image—The sky appears to touch the mountains in Bogota, Columbia. My rental $525 USD a month. My cost, including rent for one month in Bogota, is under $1030 USD, And the above image is my view.

My biggest question about Columbia was why many Columbian citizens risk their lives to travel to America on foot.

Before you arrive in Columbia, it must be dangerous if hundreds of families leave and travel by foot to a land they have never seen before. Your question becomes, what’s wrong with Columbia?

Well, almost thirty days ago, I arrived and silently asked the question as I walked through downtown, experiencing clean streets and beautiful architecture. (Street art is exciting and everywhere.) I answered my own question.

Nothing is wrong with Columbia. In fact, expats are thriving in Columbia.

I am sure the views from my rental are much different from those of the poor neighborhoods. The average salary the locals make is less than $400 USD a month. It appears that those who are poor often opt to join the walk to America.

My only complaint, if you want to call it a complaint, is I wore my ski jacket when I went out. Bogota is a little on the cool side. Some days were warmer than others. I had…
