So why did I have to take off and land 4 times within 18 hours to get to the Dominican Republic?

Well, it all started with a requirement that has been implemented since COVID-19. Countries are demanding that the airlines request proof of onward travel before allowing travelers to enter their country.

Eight months ago, I didn’t have a clue where I wanted to go after visiting my eye doctor in Acapulco, Mexico. So, I purchased one of the cheapest exit tickets out of the country four months before I was scheduled to travel.

One of the cheapest tickets was to Bogota, Columbia. The airfare was less than $200.

But then I decided to return to the Dominican Republic for six months. Little did I realize, but the DR has also implemented an exit ticket strategy for visitors. That is why you must check each country’s requirements BEFORE you travel.

Two months before my travel, I sat down to book airfare to the Dominican Republic, from Bogota. Of course, I could have booked it directly from Mexico City at a price of $1100 including the price of luggage.

Or if I had not purchased a ticket to Bogota, I could have purchased a cheaper ticket from Mexico City to the DR through Panama City.

Anyway, I ended up flying from Acapulco to Mexico City.
