I am retired and traveling the world slowly. I usually rent entire places, yet I am fully aware of all the great room rentals in different parts of the world.
Like many people, I thought these rent-a-room hosts did not make much money. But I was reading another article that said they earn, on average, $1,700 USD a MONTH in the United States during their first year. In other parts of the world, they earn the equivalent of $1,700 a month. Meaning if the country has a lower cost of living, the rents are lower as well.
But here’s the deal.
There are more solo travelers than ever before in the history of travel.
Is that because baby boomers are retiring, and we are the most progressive retirement group to date? According to the Census Bureau, 10,000 people retire daily in the United States. This will continue until 2030 when all baby boomers will be over 65.
