Book Excerpt; Meeting between CIA case manager and a cyber-operative regarding a new assignment
“Osei’s next assignment would entangle him in a dangerous connection between the old Germany, the US, Russia, and the current NASA. Little did he realize this off-book assignment would change his life and the Agency’s protocol forever.
Everyone at the Agency understood the U.S. space program enlisted help from German rocket scientists from World War II. After the war, many of the top scientists and engineers entered “Operation Paperclip,” a secret U.S. government project. The program allowed certain individuals with special training to work for the US Government.
Osei felt comfortable with the idea of working alone again. Shelly handed him his cases, and he worked them with the help of Department Analysis when needed. He worked equally well with any of the computer analysis available, and his cool and calm management resulted in a friendship with the people he worked with. His working relationship with Shelly appeared to be stable. She flirted with him. He smiled and looked down so as not to encourage her, hoping her approval of him continued.
In the midst of this normal routine, Shelly’s assistant cleared Osei’s schedule for a private luncheon with Shelly. The rumors in the office about private lunches warned staffers that something…
